Courtney Burns, RN
Received Certificate in Medical Transitioning, Coding & Billing from Southern Hills Joint Vocational School, 2003
Received STNA Certification from Southern Hills Joint Vocational School, 2005
Received Associate’s of Applied Science in Nursing & Minor in Psychology from Southern State Community College, 2010
Obtained Registered Nurse License, 2010
From the get go, Courtney knew she wanted to be a nurse. Immediately after graduating from Eastern High School, she continued her education at Southern Hills Joint Vocational School and received her medical transitioning, coding, and billing, plus STNA certification. She worked as a STNA full-time while attending Southern State for her nursing degree. Since the waiting list for nursing was so long, she took enough classes to have a minor in psychology. She graduated from Southern State Community College in June of 2010 and became an official RN in August of 2010. Courtney was working at Locust Ridge when she decided to also apply full-time at Adams County Manor (our sister facility). While working at both facilities full-time, Courtney became pregnant in October with her now son, Perry, and decided to remain at ACM. She worked nights at ACM until the Spring of 2015 and stayed PRN at the Villa in Georgetown. She regretted her decision and always told herself that she would go back to ACM full-time; however, she was offered to fill in at Morris as DON. She loved ACM, so she was hesitant about going to Morris, but finally decided to take the position at Morris and has loved it. She was used to the hustle and bustle at ACM, but absolutely loves the small mix of long-term and skilled patients at Morris and the loving staff- her mother passed shortly after coming to Morris and the compassion from coworkers was obvious.
Courtney married her high school sweetheart in June of 2008. In addition to Perry, Courtney also has a girl, Evelyn. She is a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ in Winchester and in her free time, she enjoys sewing, cooking, going to concerts, and training for obstacle course races, as she loves mud runs, the Spartan tough mudder, and 5k, 10k, and 1/2 marathons. We are so happy to have Courtney in our Morris family!
