Music & Memory: Renewing Lives Lost to Dementia
Adams County Manor and Morris Nursing Home started the Music & Memory program in May 2015. It is a non-profit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly, or infirm through digital music technology, which vastly improves Quality of Life. Our staff has been trained to create and provide personalized playlists using iPods and related digital audio systems that can enable those struggling with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other cognitive and physical challenges to reconnect with the world through music, which triggers memories. We currently have 10 residents in our program and plan to add more! Each resident has dementia, or a related diagnosis, and is a therapeutic program to help soothe and/or calm the resident and is used for memory recall.
